Hi everyone! My name is Jess and I’m so excited that you found this channel! I’ve been here for about three months, but would still definitely consider myself a newbie. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing (if you want)!
Tag Questions
Why did you start this channel?
I started this channel because I’ve been a longtime fan of booktube, and always wanted to start my own channel. I love the community aspect the most: finding so many people (and new friends!) who love books and want to talk about them as much as I do.
What are some fun and unique things you can bring to BookTube?
I think everyone brings their own unique personality and perspective to BookTube, in general. But, I also am really inspired to create some secret TBR and themed reading vlog videos for BookTube!
What are you most excited about for this new channel?
Meeting new people! I’m excited to meet new people who have similar reading taste to me, and also people with different reading tastes who inspire me to get out of my comfort zone.
Why do you love reading?
I love reading for a number of different reasons, but I think the biggest reason is the escapism of it all. I also really like the way books can make you think about the world in a different light and help you to understand experiences that are different than your own. I feel like reading has made me a more worldly person and more aware of different events in history, different ways of life, and different kinds of experiences.
What book or series got you into reading?
I’ve been a lifelong reader, so it’s hard to point to one specific book or series.
When I was a kid, I loved the American Girl books and Nancy Drew.
In middle school, I think I really started to develop my more specific reading tastes. Twilight, The Hunger Games, The Mortal Instrument series, and Maximum Ride, were all super influential in my reading life.

What questions would you ask your favorite booktubers?
So, some of my current favorite booktubers are BooksandLaLa, Chandler Ainsley, & Chelsea Dolling Reads. I think what I really love about them is how creative they are in their video ideas, so I think I would ask them where they draw inspiration from for these creative videos. I would also like to ask them for vlogging tips and trips, because I’m not too great at that yeat.
What challenges in starting a BookTube channel do you think will be the hardest to overcome?
I am very much a perfectionist, so honestly just taking the first step and putting my first video out there – knowing it wasn’t perfect – was really difficult for me. It’s still difficult for me every time to post a video, feeling like I could have done this or tha better. So, just pushing myself out of my comfort zone to continue posting consistently will probably be the hardest challenge to overcome.
When did you start reading?
My mom loves to tell the story about how she read out loud to me from the moment she knew I was in her womb. Then, she would read to me from whatever book she was reading while I was a baby. So, I feel like my love of reading just developed super young. Both of my parents are readers and I always have been as well, so I can’t really remember when I started reading.
Where do you read?
I don’t really have a specific spot! I listen to audiobooks in the car, while I’m cleaning and doing chores, and while I’m walking my dog. I physically read in my bed or on the couch. I also try to read on my breaks at work.
What kind of books do you like to read?
I am a huge fan of romance books: even if I read in different genres like fantasy or sci-fi, I like the book to have a romance sub-plot. I also like hard-hitting contemporaries and historical fiction.
